Our beloved Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Matthew, was originally the parish church of Masindi before we were given diocesan status. Because of its small size for a cathedral, it simply overflows with worshippers on Sundays.

We conduct services of Praise and Holy Communion in English and in our local language – Runyoro – and attendance at each of the three services tops the 300-mark. Often, our worshippers walk from many miles around. Our enthusiastic choir members, in their red robes, are of all ages, and solos are a common feature aided by our ancient PA system and a keyboard plus amplifier that threatens to catch fire at times in the heat! And, my, how everyone sings! So too do our wonderful Sunday School children, who meet in an adjoining hall. We can hear them through the wall!

But our problem is fitting everyone in. So we have embarked on our ‘New Cathedral’ project. On a site nearby, we have already made a start on the foundations and are busy raising money, building as we go. It will take some time in our present circumstances but we’ll get there in the end.
