It is our privilege and our joy to baptise new members into the Church, whatever their age.
There are great celebrations when such occasions occur (we Ugandans never ignore a chance to celebrate – loudly!) and, of course, all the members of the family come to the church from far and wide for the occasion. The service, while respectful, is often informal and the variety of ‘fonts’ brought into use can be quite inventive – (see the photo below).

As the Diocesan Bishop, it would be my ideal to preside at each and every baptism service but with over 6000 baptisms every year, that is not possible. Nevertheless, my clergy are busy on my behalf aided, on occasion, by clerical visitors who we are delighted to welcome.
